Rules Lawyering = Actual Lawyering > Arguing whose sh_tty crap is better, when they're usually just as identically sh_tty.
But we're people, and its our natural, biologically instinctive tendency to 1) Find ways to have it better however it may be, 2) Get a leg up over competitions whenever we can, and 3) Feel good by feeling superior by comparison (of which in this case "the idiots who made this and missed such a big 'blind spot' when its so obvious" even when it isn't really one.) All of these are within the essence of Rules Lawyering. (BTW, the 4th and last major aspect of Rules Lawyering was "It wasn't 'right' according to my own decision, so I would make it 'right' regardless of what other people think"... That might apply to the example above too, maybe. )
Tl:dr, in our world full of words, playing with words are just what we do. v=3=v (It's also kinda a game in a sense, though not one that can usually be enjoyed beyond lone individuals.)
